On this spot in history
The cemetery, a resting place for over a thousand souls who shaped the region's early days as fur trappers, loggers, miners, and more, stands as a poignant reminder of the past. Though many graves are unmarked, each tells a story of sacrifice and toil. Today, transformed into a public park, the cemetery features 40 unique trees representing the native countries of these men, a new walking path complete with informational signage, a labyrinth, and an artistic installation. This park not only honours those who came before but also invites the community to connect with their legacy in a meaningful way.
