Tourism Kamloops is thrilled to share the results of its 2024 Resident Sentiment Survey, underscoring strong community support for the Build Kamloops initiative. The survey, which gathered responses from nearly 500 residents, reaffirms the community's positive outlook on tourism and its crucial role in Kamloops' economic and social development.
For the fourth consecutive year, over 90% of respondents recognize tourism as a vital industry for Kamloops. Notably, 91.6% of residents believe that tourism positively impacts the local economy, highlighting the sector's significance as a key economic driver. Additionally, over 80% of respondents support financial investments aimed at enhancing Kamloops' appeal as a top tourism destination.
Erik Fisher, CEO of Tourism Kamloops, emphasized the alignment between community sentiment and the Build Kamloops initiative:
"The results of this year's survey confirm that Kamloops residents are not only open to but are actively supporting investments in infrastructure and tourism. The Build Kamloops initiative represents a transformative opportunity for our city, with the potential to attract more events, tournaments, and visitors, ultimately creating more tourism-related jobs and strengthening our local economy."
The survey also revealed that more than 75% of residents see infrastructure improvements as beneficial to their lives. This support is critical as Kamloops embarks on the Build Kamloops initiative, which aims to modernize and expand the city's infrastructure to better serve both residents and visitors. The initiative will play a pivotal role in sustaining Kamloops' reputation as Canada's Tournament Capital and a leading destination for travelers.
Tourism Kamloops is committed to leveraging these insights to guide future strategies and ensure that the community's needs and aspirations remain at the forefront of development efforts. The positive sentiment towards infrastructure improvement and further investment in our tourism industry initiative among residents is a strong indicator that the city's Build Kamloops initiative is well-aligned with the community's vision for a vibrant, sustainable, and economically resilient Kamloops.
