Tourism Kamloops 2024 Provincial Election Candidate Survey
At Tourism Kamloops, we’re committed to engaging with all candidates in the 2024 provincial election to understand their stance on key tourism issues. We surveyed each candidate to gauge their understanding of tourism's role in Kamloops and are sharing their responses for a transparent view of their positions.
At Tourism Kamloops, we believe in engaging proactively with all candidates running for election; including those that have recently stepped up for the current 2024 provincial election.
We reached out to each candidate, providing them the opportunity to participate in a survey designed to benchmark their understanding of tourism’s role in Kamloops and to gauge their support for fueling a thriving visitor economy. We made sure to follow up with candidates to ensure full participation, and today we’re sharing the unedited responses of those who engaged with the survey. This approach allows for full transparency, giving you a complete view of each candidate's positions on the issues that matter most to our industry.
The questions asked were crafted to reflect the key concerns and opportunities facing tourism in Kamloops today. From tourism recovery to workforce development, Indigenous tourism, and responses to crises like wildfires, we wanted to ensure our tourism community’s voice was heard. The responses are aimed to help you evaluate where candidates stand and how they might support Kamloops’ tourism future if elected.
While we encourage everyone to review each response in full, a few common themes emerged from the candidates’ insights: the importance of workforce recovery, sustainable tourism investment, and maintaining the Municipal & Regional District Tax (MRDT) for tourism promotion.
Regardless of the election's outcome, Tourism Kamloops looks forward to working with the elected officials to strengthen our city's tourism landscape. And of course, we encourage everyone to get out and vote.
