Next up… Sarah Candido!
Kamloops thrives because of its natural beauty and the dedicated individuals who pour their passion into the city. One of those champions is Sarah Candido, the Indigenous and External Relations Manager for the City of Kamloops and a liaison to Tourism Kamloops in a non-voting capacity. Sarah’s journey and dedication make her an invaluable part of Kamloops’ tourism ecosystem.
Q: What drives your passion?
“The desire to make or influence positive change — and to find alignment between people and organizations that can move us all forward in a meaningful way,” she shares. This drive is evident in her efforts to connect organizations, assist with funding, and expedite impactful projects for Tourism Kamloops.
Growing up, Sarah spent her summers in Kamloops, visiting her grandparents’ home. As an adult, she lived in various places but always found herself drawn back to Kamloops for its location and amenities. “My grandparents built a home here in the 1950s, and I spent most summers here growing up. When I became an adult, I lived in other places but always ended up back in Kamloops because of its location and amenities,” Sarah explains.
Q: So, Sarah — what makes Kamloops stand out for you?
“Its proximity to the natural playground, its proximity to other places, and of course, its small-town charm in a mid-sized package!”
In her downtime, Sarah enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and friends, taking full advantage of the city’s natural beauty. Her dedication to Kamloops and its growth ensures that the city continues to thrive as a destination for visitors and residents alike.
Q: What do you hope to achieve in this industry?
“I hope to help Tourism Kamloops expedite projects by connecting them to the people that can help, assist with funding questions, share areas where I see alignment with other organizations, suggest collaborations, and assist with the MRDT.”
Sarah’s passion for her work stems from her commitment to making positive change — and that makes her a ‘Loops Legend in our books.
