June 17, 2024. Kamloops, B.C.: Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) and Tourism Kamloops,
are excited to announce the hosting of an extraordinary aerial light show in celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, 2024. This event marks a significant collaboration between the two organizations and is anticipated to be one of the first aerial light shows outside the lower mainland.

The celebration will take place at the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc Special Events Facility, beginning at 4:00 PM with an opening prayer, welcome song, and remarks. The day's events will feature artisans and vendors, traditional drumming and dancing, performances by Indigenous musicians, a variety of food trucks, and a Kid Zone with a magician, face painter, and bounce houses. The festivities will culminate in a mesmerizing aerial light show featuring animals significant to Indigenous culture starting at 10:00 PM.

National Indigenous Peoples Day, held annually on June 21, is a day to recognize and celebrate
the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples in Canada. This day coincides with the summer solstice, a time of cultural significance for many Indigenous communities. Established in 1996, National Indigenous Peoples Day provides an opportunity for all Canadians to learn about and appreciate the rich traditions and histories of Indigenous peoples.
