Wide Angle - Temporary Exhibit at the Kamloops Museum

April 11 - September 27, 2025

The landscape of film in Kamloops. The landscape of Kamloops in film.

For decades, Kamloops has been more than just a city—it’s been a scene.

A backdrop for epic stories. A character in its own right. But how often do we stop and see it through the lens of the filmmakers who brought it to life?

Wide Angle pulls back the curtain on Kamloops’ role in film, both behind the camera and on the big screen. From dusty western landscapes to neon-lit downtown streets, this city has set the stage for stories that span generations.

This year, two icons share the spotlight. The Paramount Theatre marks 70 years of movie magic, a place where Hollywood dreams have danced across the screen for generations. At the same time, the Kamloops Film Society celebrates 50 years of championing bold, independent storytelling. Decades of film. A lifetime of stories.

Step inside the Kamloops Museum and Archives and explore the way Kamloops has shaped film—and the way film has shaped Kamloops. Archival footage, behind-the-scenes stories, and a celebration of the moments that made movie magic right here at home.

A collaborative exhibition presented by the City of Kamloops, the BC Arts Council, and Heritage Canada.

The lights are dimming. The reel is rolling. And the story is just beginning.
