Harper Mountain

This family-owned ski hill was built by avid skier and contractor, Max Daburger, who immigrated from the Bavarian Alps in 1951 determined to build a ski resort. For a year and a half, he hiked the hills of Kamloops until he discovered the ideal location and elevation with a north facing slope.

After forming a partnership with Peter Huser, trees were cleared for the ski runs and the logs were used to build the T-Bar, handle tow and the wood frame lodge. Since opening in 1973, the resort is still operated by the Daburger family and remains an affordable family winter experience.

Harper Mountain Tubing

If downhill skiing isn’t your thing, the Snow Town Tube Park is fun for all ages with a lift accessed ride up Saturdays and Sundays from 10am-4pm. The park is illuminated in the evenings, which means you can also tube at night Fridays and Saturdays from 5pm-9pm.

Take in sweeping valley views as you snowshoe over 11 km of trails under snow-capped trees. For an enjoyable 2-hour excursion, ride the chairlift up for $20 and snowshoe back down to the lodge. There is also one marked and groomed 3 km cross-country ski trail ideal for both skate and classic skiing.

Have you ever skied at night? Well you can at Harper Mountain! On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 5-9pm, take the T-bar up the hill and soar through fluffy white powder under the lights. Spillway, Midway and the Terrain park are open. After you've had your fun, visit the Lodge to warm up with a full hot food menu (hello poutine - or should we say bonjour?), hot cocoa, mulled wine and more.
