Check Your Ice Thickness
Checking the thickness of the ice is the first thing you want to do when arriving at the lake. Use an ice chisel or auger to drill a hole close to shore to determine the thickness of the ice. It’s recommended to drill holes every 10 feet until you get to your desired location and you have 4 inches of solid clear ice.

Bring Snacks
Ice fishing is an activity the entire family can enjoy and is for all ages and skill levels. All it takes is a little knowledge and the right gear. • Ice Auger/scoop – used to drill holes and scoop out the slush
• Ice Fishing Rods – no explanation necessary
• Small lures – gold, orange, and pink chartreuse lures tipped with worm or shrimp
• Ice Hut - designed to keep the cold out and to see the fish below the ice
• Chairs – for comfort
• Fishing license – visit the Government of BC website to buy a one-day or season license
