2009 Brings New Direction for Best Western Kamloops

Kamloops, B.C.: 2009 will bring a brand change to the Best Western property on Rogers Way.

“We have been pleased with our 19 year relationship with the Best Western brand,” says property owner Karl Hampel, “but 2009 will bring some exciting new changes and a different direction for our property.”

The different direction, Hampel refers to, is an ending of a relationship between the Rogers Way property with the Best Western brand.

General Manager, Tim Rodgers says, “The hospitality industry has changed over this time and so has the focus for the brand and our property. Though this is an end to our relationship with the Best Western, this upcoming year will bring about some big changes for the newly named Kamloops Towne Lodge, effective at the end of January.”

The Kamloops Towne Lodge first opened in 1987 as a 60 room hotel and has expanded over the years until the completion in 2001 to 203 rooms on seven acres. Owner Karl Hampel first started in the hospitality industry in Prince George in 1967 before he moved to Kamloops in 1970, owning and operating various properties in the city.

“One of the goals for the Kamloops Towne Lodge is to maintain its commitment to being ‘Kamloops’ Green Hotel’ with geothermal energy systems, a new natural chlorinated pool and ongoing recycling programs,” says General Manager Tim Rodgers. “We will be celebrating our 20th year in the community this year and we believe it is our obligation, and our customers’ desire, that our property be as environmentally friendly as possible.”

Big changes are also taking place this winter at the hotel in the way of renovations. “Our tropical courtyard will be getting a new look, our hallways will be receiving new carpet, the majority of our guest rooms will be getting new beds as well as new 42” flat screen TV’s,” says Rodgers. “And this spring, the exterior of the Kamloops Towne Lodge will be painted. These efforts are being made for the comfort and overall great experience for our guests. We are proud to be part of the hospitality industry in Kamloops and this new direction will assist us in ensuring the property stays a vital and vibrant part of the community for years to come.”
