Mark Madryga to take on 'Double Dog Dare' Challenges
Thursday, July 29th, 2010
The Tourism Kamloops Double Dog Dare campaign wrapped up on June 30, 2010 and the voters chose three challenges for Kamloops’ Home Town Boy, Mark Madryga, to take on this summer including driving a race car, a short walk on role in Project X Theatre’s production “Rocky Horror Show’ and a road hockey challenge versus past and present NHL players and Blazer alumni. Now, Mark is coming to Kamloops to fulfill the voter’s wishes.

“I’m really excited to be coming back to Kamloops for a getaway with my family this summer,” says Mark Madryga. My wife and kids are looking forward to being with me to watch me taking on these challenges and, from what I understand, it was a pretty close race at the end from the 12 original challenges which was great to see.

Not only did the campaign see close to 20,000 votes cast for the Double Dog Dare challenges, but overall visits and website pageviews to www.tourismkamloops.com have also grown significantly, highlighting Kamloops as a great place to visit.

Saturday – July 31 – Driving a Race Car Challenge: Mark will be at the Motoplex Speedway & Event Park 50 mins drive from Kamloops towards Vernon driving NASCAR racer Jason White’s #21 car between 3 pm and 5 pm and will be the co-Grand Marshall on the main race. (admission to get into the event at the gate)

Sunday – August 1 – NHL Road Hockey Challenge: Mark will be taking on NHL players past and present and Blazer alumni in a game of road hockey from 3 pm to 4 pm at the Juniper Ridge Park.

Saturday – August 14 – ‘Rocky Horror Show’ Challenge: Mark will be performing a short walk on role in Project X Theatre’s production of ‘Rocky Horror Show’ at 7:30 pm. (tickets in advance)

Stay tuned to the Tourism Kamloops’ website to watch video of Mark performing his ‘Double Dog Dare’ challenges later this summer as all the action will be filmed.
