Kamloops, BC: The Tourism Kamloops Double Dog Dare campaign wrapped up as of midnight on June 30, 2010, and the voters have chosen three diverse, exciting and hilarious challenges for Kamloops’ Home Town Boy, Mark Madryga, to take on this summer!

“Our Double Dog Dare campaign, featuring TV Meteorologist and Kamloops’ Home Town Boy, Mark Madryga, has garnered a lot of positive attention” says Tourism Kamloops’ CEO Ms. Lee Morris. “People had the opportunity to visit the Tourism Kamloops website and vote every day for the top three challenges wanted to see Mark Madryga do this summer.”

The three challenges Mark Madryga will take on at the end of July | beginning of August are:
1st Place: Walk On Role in Project X Production’s presentation of the ‘Rocky Horror Show’
2nd Place: Driving a Race Car at A&W’s Cruisin’ the Dub 300 Nascar Series
3rd Place: Road Hockey against NHL stars

“The campaign launched with 12 challenges and has been narrowed down to these three challenges, which Mark is excited to take on,” says Lee Morris. “This was an exciting way to get visitors interacting with our website and getting a taste of some of the fun challenges they too can experience on a getaway to Kamloops.”

Not only did the campaign see close to 20,000 votes cast for the Double Dog Dare challenges, but overall visits and website page views has also grown significantly, highlighting Kamloops as a great place to visit.

“We’re pleased with the increased awareness to www.tourismkamloops.com where visitors will find out all they need to know about planning an exciting getaway in Kamloops this summer.”

Early indications show a dramatic increase in visits to the Tourism Kamloops website, attributed to a strategic marketing plan including the Double Dog Dare campaign targeting the Lower Mainland and other key market areas. These increases have driven more interest to all tourism products featured on the website including accommodation, golf product, attractions, nightlife and more.
