KAMLOOPS, BC––The longest running youth soccer tournament in the BC interior has a new sponsor! 7‐Eleven Canada has pledged its support of the Kamloops Youth Soccer Association’s flagship tournament, which has been held annually in the Tournament Capital for the past 30 years.

The tournament will now be known as the “KYSA Slurpee Cup Sponsored By 7‐Eleven.”

The 2009 KYSA Slurpee Cup is being held May 16‐18, 2009 at the McArthur Island Sports Complex, on adjacent fields, and at Hillside Stadium next to the Tournament Capital Centre.

Over 2,000 boys and girls from 12 to 18 years of age are expected to converge on Kamloops to take part in the 3‐day tournament, which is open to teams in the Metro/Rep, Gold and Silver Divisions.

Approximately 130 teams will be taking part in the event. Entries are drawn from all over BC and a few teams from Alberta will be making the long journey to compete in a tournament that has built a strong reputation throughout the Pacific Northwest since it was introduced in 1978.

“We’re thrilled to have such responsible corporate citizen as our new partner,” says Tournament Chairperson, Jewel Calibaba. “7‐Eleven has had a longstanding involvement in youth soccer and sponsor other similar events in other parts of the province. It’s tremendous that they have chosen to extend their support to our tournament here in Kamloops.

“The extra funding means we can make the tournament even better than it has been before, which will hopefully result in many of the teams returning again next year.”
