BMX Olympic Training Course and Race Track
The Kamloops Bike Ranch is home to the Big Pine BMX race track and was recently redesigned as an Olympic style training course. The course was designed to meet the needs of all levels of competitors and recreational riders. One of the goals that drove the reconfiguration of the track was to design a course that would allow youngsters to be introduced to the sport. The Big Pine BMX track is the breeding ground for future olympians and a new regular race series that is affordable to enter will provide an opportunity for riders of all ages and skills to compete.
Downhill Bike DH Racing and Recreational Riding
Starting from the staging area next to the Big Pine BMX track, downhill racers and recreational riders can choose from 6 different DH single track trails. With the Three Amigos trail being a a favourite since 2005, 5 newly constructed trails now provide a variety in terrain, jumps, and turns that imapct overall speed and timing from top to bottom. All trails end up near the Jump Park located down by the Valleyview Arena. The trails boast a multitude of tables and berms rated for the expert rider.
Cross-country Bike Racing and Recreational Riding
There is currently one cross-country looping trail that starts and finishes near the Jump Park by the Valleyview Arena. The climbing part of the trail will take you approx half way up the silt bluffs to the upper part of the Kamloops Bike Ranch.
Jump Park
Located at the bottom area of the Kamloops Bike Ranch, the Jump Park is the final component of the facilities. The Jump Park is rated for expert to intermediate riders.
Byron McCorkell, City of Kamloops parks, recreation and cultural services director says, "The construction of the Kamloops Bike Ranch has provided a world-class mountain bike facility for residents and visitors, it promotes fitness and appreciation of the natural environment, and it builds on the City of Kamloops profile as Canada's Tournament Capital."
