Natural Wonders Photography Tours

Kelly Funk of Natural Wonders Photography brings an exciting way to explore Kamloops and the surrounding area, all while dramatically improving photography skills. Kelly, who is a resident of Kamloops, is one of Tourism Kamloops' key photographers and is also the 'Turning Pro' columnist and feature writer for 'Outdoor Photography Canada Magazine'. Kelly is an accomplished wildlife photographer, and you never know what wildlife you might see while out on tour. These outdoor classes will be catering to beginners and intermediate levels. DSLR cameras are recommended, but film and point & shoots will not be excluded. Tripods are a necessity.

April 25, 2010 - The Magic of Water. Join Kelly at Chase Creek to discover how to capture the intimacy and essence of water in your imagery. From large landscapes to the tiniest droplets, Kelly will show you how to use the proper techniques and vision to bring awe-inspiring images home. Be prepared to catch a glimpse of wildlife while outdoors! This is a half day workshop, starting at 8:00 am at the Chase Creek rest area. Cost $75.00. Maximum 8 participants. Kelly will lead you into a new realm of flower photography, teaching you such things as macro work, clean and strong captures, the best compositions, color balance, handling contrast and exposure and a host of other secrets. September 12, 2010 - Outdoor Family & Leisure Portraiture. If you've been frustrated trying to capture solid images of family or friends in the great outdoors, this is the workshop for you. Kelly will lead you into a new realm of exciting portraiture that will teach you how to freeze that special moment, use exciting techniques to create dynamic motion images, control strong light and fill in harsh shadows created by the sun using your flash. This is a half-day workshop, starting at 9:00am at Riverside Park. Cost $75.00. Maximum 10 participants. If enough interest is shown, an overflow workshop may follow. Join Kelly in the grasslands behind Batchelor Heights to learn about light control, vibrancy of color, micro scenes for an intimate touch and the incorporation of water, skies and wide-open spaces for extraordinary imagery. Join Kelly for an historic day learning to photograph the world-famous sockeye salmon spawn, accompanied by fall foliage colours and the potential for eagles, osprey, and black bears. 2010 is a four-year peak cycle for the salmon so expect fantastic photography opportunities. Let Kelly guide you through the area and learn techniques and secrets to bringing home amazing images. This is a full day in the field starting at 8:00 am.  February 20, 2011 - Winter Landscapes and Ice Flows. Winter can be an imposing time of year for people, but it can also lead to amazing images that will jump off the page for anyone willing to put in the effort. At Tranquille, where the Thompson River flows into Kamloops Lake, Kelly will lead you into an ethereal world of captivating ice flows and warm winter light. You will learn how to control exposures using filters, how to slow water and capture color, and how to use the bold and imposing ice flows in your composition for a dramatic touch. This is a half-day workshop starting at 6:00 am and meeting at Old Tranquille (the main gate to Kamloops Lake). Cost $75.00. Maximum 8 participants. Email Kelly for more information.
