EXPLORE BC’S SOUTHWESTERN INTERIOR
Kamloops is in such a perfect, central location with so much to see and do for all styles and visions that it is hard to imagine there just might be other places to explore. These unique communities are fantastic day trips if you get the urge to do some exploring and go on a mini-expedition.
Barriere
Barriere is the Gateway to the North Thompson Valley. The community is surrounded by an abundance of activities to keep you busy for the day, including hunting, fishing, hiking, snowmobiling, and remote areas in which to relax. Barriere is also home of the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo on the Labour Day weekend, which is like a “homecoming” once a year.

A Gateway to the Cariboo makes the Village of Ashcroft “The Heart of Gold Country” and is a welcoming community for you to come and experience the history of “The Gold Rush Trail”.
Chase
On the shores of Little Shuswap Lake, the Village of Chase is known as the “Home to the Big Horn Sheep”, and for its native heritage and recreational opportunities for you to enjoy for the day.
Blue River
As the “Jewel of the Yellowhead”, Blue River is situated at the northern extremity of the North Thompson Valley. Blue River is a small and friendly, thriving industry and tourist town with many conveniences; feel the serenity of its magnificent natural surroundings.
Cache Creek
Cache Creek is a bustling community with rich historic lore, dating back to the days when wagon trains and prospectors followed the trail to the Cariboo Gold Fields in the 1800s. Great day trip opportunity!
Clearwater
Clearwater is the gateway to Wells Gray Provincial Park, an unspoiled wilderness immersed in the Cariboo Mountains.
Clinton
The Village of Clinton is considered “The Guest Ranch Capital of British Columbia”. It serves as a community rich in the history of the Gold Rush Trail, and as a home to pristine wilderness and local arts.

Logan LakeLogan Lake
A modern picturesque community nestled in rolling spruce and pine-covered hills, Logan Lake is located next to a world-class fishing lake. You’ll find lots of outdoor activities to do in and around Logan Lake.
Lytton
Lytton is registered as the “Hot Spot in Canada” and is nicely located at the confluence of the Thompson and Fraser Rivers. Lytton is a community with interest in eco-tourism and should be explored for yourself on a nice day trip.
Merritt
Merritt is a dynamic community and serves a strategic gateway to BC’s southwestern Interior. Home to Merritt Mountain Music Festival, as well as the historical Quilchena hotel and golf course — and, naturally, gorgeous lush scenery and rolling hills — it makes for a fun community to visit for the day.
