Kamloops - Merritt - Spences Bridge - Lytton - Lillooet - Cache Creek - Kamloops

1. Kamloops - Merritt

Distance:  98 kms (61 miles)

Approximate Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Route: Highway 5A

Origin/Destination: Take Exit 368 in Kamloops and stay on Route 5A through Merritt

Highlights: See many lakes and farm lands with likely sightings of eagles fishing. Check out the Historic Quilchena Hotel and Working Ranch.

 

2. Merritt - Spences Bridge

Distance: 64 kms (40 miles)

Approximate Time: 55 minutes

Route: Highway 8

Origin/Destination: Turn right in Merritt onto Nicola Avenue/Route 97C. Stay straight to go onto Route 8.

Highlights: Take in the Walk of Stars in Merritt, and enjoy breathtaking scenery through the Nicola Valley. Stop and take a dip in the river if its hot!

 

3. Spences Bridge - Lytton

Distance: 37 kms (23 miles)

Approximate Time: 25 minutes

Route: Highway 1

Origin/Destination: Turn left onto Highway 1 in Spences Bridge.

Highlights: Take the Walking Tour of the movie set for "The Pledge" in Lytton.

 

 

4. Lytton - Lillooet

Distance: 64 kms (40 miles)

Approximate Time: 55 mins

Route: Highway 12

Origin/Destination: From Highway 1, turn right onto Route 12, then turn left on 6th Street, and right again onto Route 12. If you want to go into Lillooet, turn left onto Route 99, and after the bridge turn right on Route 40. NOTE: there is a short section of road that narrows down to single lane and is dirt - please use caution.

Highlights: The Old Suspension Bridge in Lillooet is not only a historic site, but is home to thousands of bats as part of a bat housing project. The Chinese Rocks along the river are also an interesting stop.

 

5. Lillooet - Cache Creek

Distance: 87 kms (54 miles)

Approximate Time: 1 hour, 10 mins

Route: Highway 99

Origin/Destination: Stay on Route 99 from Lillooet. Turn slight right onto Route 97 after 46 miles.

Highlights: The majestic Marble Canyon is home to Pavilion Lake, which is one of the few sites in the world that has fresh water coral, as well as the Crown Lake Falls. While in Cache Creek, check out Horstings Farm, the Bonaparte Bend Winery, Hat Creek Ranch, the Cariboo Jade Shop and Graffiti Days (June).

 

6. Cache Creek - Kamloops

Distance: 81 kms (50 miles)

Approximate Time: 1 hour

Route: Highway 1

Origin/Destination: Turn left at the lights in Cache Creek onto Highway 1.

Highlights: The McAbee Fossil Beds are worth a stop, about 10 mins outside Cache Creek.
