Après Ski spots in Kamloops
Skiing and snowboarding can work up a thirsty appetite. Wrap up warm at one of Kamloops’ cozy breweries and restaurants for an après-ski sip or a comforting plate of hearty food to refuel after a day playing in the snow.
Seasonal sips at The Noble Pig
What could be more warming than a drink of seasonal cheer? Holiday brews were such a hit last year at The Noble Pig Brewhouse that the infusion beers return for another round this December. Sip on seasonal Chocomint, the ‘winterized’ version of the popular Mocha Porter, infused with peppermint, or Mulled Swine, which is the Belgian Pepper Ale infused with mulling spices. Talk about festive in a glass!
Fuel-up at ROMEOs
Hitting the slopes can work up a hunger and at ROMEOs Kitchen + Spirits, their Whisky Dry Aged Beef Ribeye Steaks are perfect for filling up after a snowy day out. Aged for 45 days to perfection (using a local bourbon style whisky), the ribeye is laid on a bed of fried brussel sprouts cooked in nduja with tarragon vinaigrette and parmesan, and served with a side of truffle scented mashed potatoes. We hear it pairs well with one of their bold, local red wines for a warming and delicious dinner.
Brisket Bites at Bright Eye Brewing
Cozy up with comfort food at Bright Eye Brewing where Brewer Bryan's Smoked Brisket is served up with a Texas-style slow smoked brisket, with herb fingerling potatoes, charred onions, corn on the cob, and a Kansas-style BBQ sauce. Wash it down with a festive brew such as Trey, a milk stout with coconut and vanilla. Named after co-owner Ty’s dog Trey (a crazy lab with (coco)nutty energy), this beer features so much toasted coconut that it caused trouble in the tanks, something that Trey would be proud of. Everything’s Vine is a unique holiday sipper that is a wine/beer hybrid for the best of both worlds.
Saucy BBQ Platter at Alchemy Brewing
Next year you might be able to cuddle up in front of Alchemy Brewing Company's renovated fireplace after an outdoor workout, but this year you can warm up from the inside out with Chef Ryan’s BBQ platter for two, which is available every Friday. Featuring Chef’s favourite cuts for the week, the platter switches up weekly to reflect the freshest flavours and is ideal for a hungry and tired adventurer.
Warm-Up With A Smoky Porter
Pick up a Porter for the ultimate warming beverage to refresh and refuel after a day of skiing or snowboarding. Iron Road Brewing’s Smoked Porter is dark, robust, and of course smoky. Brewed with Weyermann Beechwood Smoked Barley Malt for a delicious twist, this beer is perfect for pairing with food, particularly meats, cheeses, and chocolate (perfect after burning it up on the slopes). Rum is a classic seasonal drink and the Rum Barrel Aged Porter has been aged in a rum and whisky cask for 12 months, giving it notes of those two beverages, as well as chocolate and a firm bitterness. Look out for an Oud Bruin and a Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout coming out soon too.
Vegan fare at Cordo Resto + Bar
It’s not just meat eaters that have all the tasty eats for apres ski feasting. Cordo Resto + Bar’s house-made vegan “meatball” tacos come with smashed avocado, roasted gem tomatoes, and house-pickled vegetables for a hearty plate. Are you dining in a group? The private Ridge Room seats six-20 people and has a double-sided fireplace, Sunrise Lake Ledgestone Rock wall, and a 75” TV for a cozy get-together to celebrate a special occasion.
Whether you like to refuel with a hearty, comforting meal, or party with a seasonal beverage after an outdoor adventure, there is a cozy space waiting for you in Kamloops
